ESEL-SPOLP a company created by the merging of two of the oldest companies in Cyprus, now offers the consumer the opportunity to shop with one of the largest retail organisations on the Island.

The ESEL organisation, was founded in 1942, and the main line of activities were the retail supply of foodstuffs and garments through a chain of retail outlets in Cyprus.

The SPOLP organisation, was founded in 1954, and main line of activities were the supply of household goods to the wholesale trade. The reasons for merging their powers were overwhelming since, together they could market the products they sell throughout Cyprus. They now have a much stronger purchasing power, and a centralised distribution network, this ensures a more efficient delivery of products to every one of their retail sites, thus being able to pass on the benefits to the consumer.

The ESEL-SPOLP organisation consists of two separate retail distribution networks these being ESEL STORES and E&S SUPERSTORES. ESEL STORES are now the largest chain of retail convenience stores in Cyprus offering the consumer a chance to shop conveniently without having to travel far from their home.

The E&S SUPERSTORES chain is especially designed with comfort and a wide choice in mind and offers the consumer a one stop shopping alternative for whatever it is they are looking for, be it, food, electrical appliances, clothing, toys and a whole lot more. ESEL-SPOLP wholesale activities cover a number of cash & carry and delivered goods operations.

In January 1998 ESEL-SPOLP commenced the installation of the RM6000 retail system with the local Sandmar distributor IDEAC Software Associates Limited.

RM6000 is deployed as a Multi Location system across the groups Hypermarkets, Supermarkets, Warehouse & Distribution Centres as well as the Electrical & Fashion outlets.

A range of Point of Sale equipment is used including Sandmar POSXpress3 and an IBM local tilling program. All Point of Sale systems link into RM6000 at store level and communicate regularly with the Head Office system.
